Hana Noʻeau: Exploring Abstract Art
ʻOhana Art Making Day

Saturday, August 22

10:30 am - 12:30pm

1:30 - 3:00pm

This workshop featuring Carl Pao (@carlfkpao) and Kaiʻili Kaulukukui (@artworkofkai) is a placemaking initiative that brings Native Hawaiian values, culture, and perspective into public space through abstract art.

The workshops are composed of introductions to abstract art and mural art, followed by discussion and brainstorming to generate ideas for artwork compositions. Attendees will learn how to create an original abstract composition on paper using a monotype printmaking technique and will explore how to use kaona, or adding depth, to an artwork.

This workshop is an extension of our Abstract Only!

Mahalo to Kamehameha Schools Kaiaulu Program & the Kosasa Foundation for making this possible! Link to enroll in bio.
