Proposals to Exhibit

Artists who are interested in displaying their work at Wailoa Center will need to schedule an appointment and be prepared to submit a "proposal to exhibit" for both the Main Gallery and the Fountain Gallery.

The Fountain Gallery is usually reserved for individual artists and is subject to all the terms and conditions of the Main Gallery, which follow.

A Main Gallery proposal must include a clear idea/theme of what you want the exhibit to be; the work from a minimum of 5 artists, each artist’s statement, and biography, and images representing his/her work.

There is no cost to reserve the exhibition space at Wailoa. However, exhibiting groups will be responsible for any cost connected to installation, advertising, and meet-the-artists opening reception food and entertainment expenses. Exhibiting artists will also be asked to gallery-sit the exhibit during the month to augment service by Wailoa volunteers. Gallery-sitting offers a great opportunity for the artists to interact with the public and educate visitors about their art.

Typically, Wailoa Center is booked two years in advance. Proposals are reviewed throughout the year. Qualifying individuals/groups will be notified as soon as availability opens up.  Other artist's opportunities become available during the year through open juried exhibits sponsored by the Hawaii Island Art Alliance (HIAA) and are posted  to the HIAA website.
